Benei M. Lamthiu urges KSU to embrace roots, pursue new horizons

DIMAPUR

Benei M. Lamthiu MLA graced the 63rd general session of the Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) held on January 9, 2026, at Sanglao village.
According to a DIPR report, speaking on the sub-theme “Roots and New Horizons,” Benei encouraged students to transform the Khiamniungan community through the power of education. Drawing inspiration from the phrase “Education is the passport to the future,” he urged students to master modern education to keep pace with the fast-evolving world. He further challenged the student body to strive for excellence in competitive arenas, expressing his vision to see greater representation of the Khiamniungan people among the state’s gazetted officers.
While advocating modernization, Benei reminded the youth that their identity remains their greatest strength. He urged them never to lose sight of their “roots”—the rich traditions and heritage passed down through generations.
The MLA also dismissed reliance on “luck or chances,” instead identified three essential tools for success: willpower, determination, and hard work.
The event featured a keynote address by the speaker, assembly affairs, KSU. A folk fusion presented by the Choklangan Students’ Union added vibrancy to the programme. Short speeches were also delivered by the president of the Khiamniungan Cultural Club, Noklak, and the general secretary of the Khiamniungan Gazetted Officers’ Association.
