Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Nagaland conducted the Atmanirbhar Bharat Ankalp Abhiyan Youth Convention & College-Level Vidhansabha Sammelan on November 30 at Tsuremmen village under Alongtaki Assembly Constituency, Mokokchung. The programme was held under the broader initiative “Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar-Ghar Swadeshi” with the objective of strengthening youth participation in nation-building and promoting self-reliance, Swadeshi entrepreneurship and community development.
Welcoming the gathering, Sentimeren Longkumer, president BJYM 30th Alongtaki, highlighted the aims of the Abhiyan—mobilizing youth, creating awareness on government schemes, encouraging local enterprise and preparing young people for constructive democratic engagement. He said such grassroots outreach reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building an empowered and self-reliant India by nurturing rural youth potential.
State BJP secretary Shilukaba Longchar and BJYM Nagaland president and DMC councillor V. Khekato Awomi, in their short addresses, underscored opportunities available under Central Government initiatives such as Start-Up India, PMEGP, Digital India and skill training missions. They urged participants to utilize these platforms to innovate, build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to the national economy.
Speaking on the role of women in social and economic transformation, Kashini Kiba, vice president Mahila Morcha Nagaland, stressed gender-inclusive development, financial independence and the importance of Swadeshi products in strengthening local economies. She also highlighted welfare programmes of the Modi Government aimed at empowering young women and students.
A Swadeshi Pledge was administered by Opeto S. Swu, research & policy, BJYM Nagaland, where participants committed to promoting indigenous products, supporting local entrepreneurs, reducing dependency on imports and contributing to the Vocal for Local movement.
The programme, chaired by Likao Odyuo, general secretary BJYM Nagaland, began with an invocation by Asenla Imchen, Associate Pastor, Women Ministry, TBC, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Kawaljeet Singh, treasurer BJYM Nagaland.
