Nagaland: CANSSEA observes AISGEF national strike in Kohima

The Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees Association (CANSSEA) on Thursday observed the national strike called by the All India State Government Employees Federation (AISGEF) in support of an eight-point charter of demands.
CANSSEA said the decision to observe the strike was taken during the 18th National Conference of AISGEF held at Shirdi, Maharashtra, from January 23 to 26, 2026. The conference, attended by affiliated bodies from across the country, deliberated on issues affecting state government employees and resolved to observe a democratic national strike on February 12.
As an affiliated body, CANSSEA joined the nationwide strike and organised a programme at its central office complex at Bayavü, Kohima, where members participated from 11 a.m.
Short speeches were delivered on issues including the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme, pay revision, restoration from the National Pension System (NPS)/Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) to the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), and the National Education Policy (NEP).
CANSSEA informed that it had submitted the eight-point charter of demands to the Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland, on February 6.
In a representation addressed to the chief secretary, CANSSEA vice president S. Chaidok Phom and general secretary Yhunsenlo Kent stated that the Shirdi conference culminated in the decision to observe the February 12 strike.
The charter demanded regularisation of all contractual employees; filling up of vacancies in government departments and PSUs; repeal of the PFRDA Act and scrapping of NPS/UPS; restoration of OPS; repeal of the four Labour Codes; stopping privatisation or corporatisation of PSUs; review of the Terms of Reference of the 8th Central Pay Commission; grant of 10% interim relief subject to a minimum of Rs 5,000; implementation of a comprehensive health insurance scheme; strengthening of Education and Public Health departments; abandonment of NEP and withdrawal of compulsory TET order; and repeal of Articles 310 and 311(2)(a)(b)(c) of the Constitution.
