Nagaland: Capacity building training for MTS focuses on sanitation, discipline

Dimapur:

Capacity building training for Supervisors, Sardars, and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) including Peons, Chowkidars, Sweepers, and Malis (batch 3) was held at the Conference Hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat on February 23.
According to DIPR report, the training was organized by the Secretariat Administration Branch “B”, Home Department, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with Living for Environment (LIFE) NGO. Addressing the participants, Secretary, Home Department, Elizabeth Ngullie, said the training was organized in the first month of the year to sensitise and update MTS personnel on office procedures, discipline, and adherence to established rules within the Secretariat. She stressed that continuous training was essential in a rapidly changing world, even for MTS staff, to remain updated and enhance their skills.
Highlighting the Nagaland Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1967, and the Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1968, Ngullie reminded that all government servants are guided by these rules and must abide by them. She emphasized the responsibilities of MTS personnel, which include cleaning, photocopying, maintaining records, operating office equipment, and assisting in general office upkeep, urging them to diligently carry out assigned duties.
She further advised staff to safeguard government property, use office assets responsibly, and exercise vigilance while handling electrical appliances, citing incidents of fire accidents in certain departments. Ngullie also stressed the importance of wearing uniforms during office hours for easy identification and informed that timely submission of APAR forms would ease record processing and promotion considerations. Resource person, Niksungla, founder-chairman of LIFE, imparted practical knowledge on modern sanitation practices, effective waste management, proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment, workplace etiquette, personal hygiene, safety measures, discipline, and service standards. She said the initiative seeks to strengthen cleanliness standards and promote a disciplined, professional work culture within the Secretariat.
The training sessions will continue daily till February 26 at the Civil Secretariat Conference Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
