Nagaland Capt N. Kengurüse Trophy Headhunters FC, Lüshe FC in semis

Headhunters FC (164 Naga TA) and Lüshe FC secured emphatic victories in their respective quarter-final matches to book semi-final berths in the ongoing 9th Capt N. Kengurüse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament 2025 held at Kohima on Friday.
In the second quarter-final, Headhunters FC outclassed Satakha FC (Zunheboto) with a commanding 6–0 win. Manton struck twice (34’, 41’) to set the tone, while Laiwang added a goal in first-half stoppage time (40+1’) to make it 3–0 at the break. The second half saw continued dominance as Arap (50’), Laiwang (60’) and Lamginmang (69’) sealed the rout.
Satakha FC struggled to match the pace and precision of Headhunters, who now advance to face Langsa Hill FC (Mon) in the semi-finals.
In the third quarter-final, Lüshe FC overcame an early deficit to defeat PDFA Jr FC 5–2 in a high-scoring contest. Nrakhak gave PDFA Jr FC the lead in the 20th minute, but Lüshe FC responded swiftly with goals from Shovelo Doulo (29’, 39’) and Irabeubo (36’). Poulin pulled one back for PDFA Jr FC (40+2’) before halftime.
Lüshe FC maintained control in the second half, with Weliso (49’) and Eneibe (61’) adding to the tally to secure a convincing win.
Both teams showcased tactical discipline and attacking flair, emerging as strong contenders for the tournament title.
On Thursday, Maverick FC and Langsa Hill FC registered impressive victories in their respective knockout fixtures to progress.
Maverick FC stormed into the quarterfinals with a commanding 4–0 win over A. Yhome FC. Dominating possession and midfield play, Maverick opened the scoring in the 31st minute through Dongehanglen, who later doubled the lead in the 64th minute. Substitute Pangteih (81’) and Ratobe (83’) added two quick goals to seal the emphatic win.
In the first quarter-final match, Langsa Hill FC staged a dramatic comeback to edge past Adroit Boys Sechü Zubza FC 2–1. Adroit Boys took an early lead in the 2nd minute through Nisede, but Langsa Hill equalized just before halftime via Berithung (44’). With extra time approaching, Guqhe headed in the winner in the 91st minute, sending Langsa Hill into the semi-finals.
The fourth quarter-final fixture will be held on November 1 at IG Stadium, Kohima, featuring Dimapur Sporting Club against Mavericks FC (Mon).
