Centre Chakhesang Public Organisation (CCPO) has announced that James P.K. Sangma, national working president of the National People’s Party (NPP), vice-president of the Council of State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation of India, chairman of Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), and president of Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA), will be visiting Porba village on February 7, 2026, prior to his scheduled programme at Pfutsero.
According to CCPO president Pupohu Lohe, Sangma has expressed his desire to visit the monolith stone at Porba village, which was erected in commemoration of the 53rd General Conference of the Chakhesang Students’ Union and the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Porbami Students’ Union in 2000, unveiled by late P.A. Sangma.
Lohe therefore appealed to centre Chakhesang public leaders to accompany Sangma during the visit, mentioning that their presence would transform the occasion into a meaningful dialogue between the past, present and future. He emphasised that the participation of leaders would ensure the guest receives the most authentic and profound understanding of the historic site.
