The Chümoukedima Circle Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) has announced that the Chümoukedima Circle CYO Wrestling Meet 2026 will be held on January 24 at Sovima Village local ground.
The event will be graced by vice president of the Chakhroma Public Organisation and chairman of the Sovima Village Council, Sebastian Zumvü, as the special guest.
Naga Wrestling, regarded as a respected sport and a vital part of the region’s cultural identity, will take center stage at the meet. Organisers stated that the event aims to promote and preserve the indigenous game while providing a platform to identify and nurture young talents within the community.
The wrestling meet will also serve as a selection trial, with promising athletes chosen to represent the Chümoukedima Circle at the upcoming Chakhroma Youth Organisation Wrestling Meet scheduled for February 2026. The CYO comprises three constituent units—Medziphema Circle CYO, Chümoukedima Circle CYO, and Chakhro Angami Kuda Circle—which will compete against one another during the February meet.
The organisers have extended an open invitation to well-wishers and Naga wrestling enthusiasts to attend the event and witness young athletes showcase their strength, skill and tradition in celebration of the indigenous sport.
