City Law College, Dimapur, held a program on renewal of its Legal Aid Clinic at the college’s Moot Court Room, on October 24.
The event was graced by representatives from Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), who attended as resource persons.
A press release by the College stated that in their address, the resource persons highlighted the vital role of Paralegal Volunteers (PLVs) in bridging the gap between public and justice delivery system.
They also emphasized the importance of Legal Aid Clinic within the college as a platform for students to engage in legal awareness and service to society.
The speakers further elaborated on various legal aid services available to public, encouraging students to actively participate in promoting access to justice, particularly for the marginalized and underprivileged sections of society.
The release added that the programme was chaired by Livi H. Chishi, invocation offered by Kainali Shikhu, while welcome address was delivered by faculty-in-charge of Legal Aid Clinic, Benchilo Odyuo, who highlighted the objectives of the clinic and its continued commitment to spreading legal awareness.
Benchilo also noted that even though the clinic had not been formally renewed, students continued to actively participate in legal aid programmes under its name.
