Nagaland: CM chairs state-level DISHA meeting

The state-level DISHA committee meeting was held on 31st August 2022 at the chief minister’s office, CMRC, during which, the house deliberated the development activities of all the flagship programmes under various departments in the state.
According to a DIPR report, chief minister Neiphiu Rio who also is the chairperson of the state-level DISHA Committee said while initiating centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) activities in the state, the proposal has to be routed through proper channel (advisor/minister) of the chief minister.
The chief minister also advised the departments to seek proper advice and briefing on various programmes implementation by concerned department.
He also apprised the department officials to work with utmost dedication.
In his address, minister for Rural Development and co-chairperson of state-level DISHA Committee, Metsübo Jamir encouraged the departments to converge all the schemes for better cohesiveness.
Member of parliament, Rajya Sabha and member, state level DISHA committee, S. Phangnon Konyak also stressed on the importance of schemes reaching the last person for whom they were targeted.
In the meeting, Social Welfare, School Education, Health & Family Welfare, Works & Housing, Rural Development, Agriculture, Urban and Municipal Affairs, Power and PHE highlighted their achievements (FY 2021-22 & 2022-2023) and issues on implementation of CSS programmes.
Later, the chairman asked the departments to bring to his notice any hurdle which requires his intervention so that the matter could be taken up with the centre and suggested that it should be informed to two members of parliament of the state.
The meeting ended with vote of thanks from secretary, Rural Development Department and member secretary, state-level DISHA Committee, Neposo Theluo.
DISHA Kohima discusses developmental activities
District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting was held on September 1 in the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) hall Kohima, where members deliberated on developmental issues pertaining to Kohima district.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting was chaired by DC)Kohima and member secretary DISHA, Shanavas C and attended by member of parliament (Lok Sabha) and DISHA Kohima chairman, Tokheho Yepthomi, member of parliament (Rajya Sabha), S. Phangnon Konyak and officials from various departments.
At the meeting, Tokheho said since 2018, the prime minister has entrusted all MPs to be the chairman of DISHA for various developmental activities.
He encouraged the departments to coordinate with one another to effectively implement CSS in the district.
Phangnon also encouraged the departments to reach out to people in rural areas and sensitise them on various CSS.
Various departments presented departmental activities and the committee deliberated on issues presented by officials.
In a presentation, PHED Kohima (Rural) highlighted the departmental activities under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) which aims to to provide drinking water supply to all rural villages in the country through connection (FHTC) by 2022- 2023.
With regard to water connectivity, Tokheho asked the PHED (Rural) to cover the household connection tap through deep tube well and rainwater harvesting tanks for villages which are unable to connect through gravitational line.
Responding to the presentation of PHED Kohima (Urban) on JJM, Tokheho pointed out that the department was supposed to complete JJM household connection within five years. He cautioned that the mission might not remain and could be terminated by 1 ½ years. The MP then suggested the department to focus on rain harvest system, as in most of the places in hilly areas, water is unfit for human consumption unless proper filtrations are done.
Other departments like Food & Civil Supplies, Kohima, DRDA, Kohima, PWD (R&B), Kohima South, PWD (R&B), Chiephobozou,
District Welfare Officer Kohima, District Horticulture Officer Kohima, District Agriculture Officer Kohima, Department of Tribal Affairs, Kohima also highlighted its departmental activities reports.
The meeting concluded with vote of thanks by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kohima, Rhosietho Nguori.
