Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CNCCI) has welcomed the “historic tripartite agreement” signed on February 5, 2026, between the Government of India, the Government of Nagaland, and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), which has resulted in the establishment of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA).
In a press release, CNCCI chairman Dr. Khekugha Muru and general secretary Avi Chase described the agreement as a defining milestone for Eastern Nagaland and the state as a whole.
Expressing its strong support, CNCCI noted that the long-standing aspirations of the region’s people were genuine and justified.
It observed that the issues, which ultimately led to this agreement, could have been addressed by the state government much earlier through sincere engagement and decisive political action.
“Had timely measures been taken, years of hardship, underdevelopment, and socio-economic challenges faced by the eastern districts could have been avoided,” CNCCI stated.
The trader body, however, acknowledged that the present agreement represented a corrective and constructive step towards equity, justice, and balanced development.
Joining ENPO and people of Eastern Nagaland in celebrating the achievement, CNCCI expressed confidence that enhanced administrative focus, equitable resource allocation, and people-oriented governance would accelerate economic progress in the FNTA region.
CNCCI hoped that FNTA would not only catch up with the rest of Nagaland but emerge as a robust economic pillar—driving growth, generating employment, and creating opportunities that would contribute significantly to the overall prosperity of Nagaland.
CNCCI noted ENPO’s unwavering, disciplined, and peaceful pursuit as a powerful example of unity and resolve overcoming complex challenges.
The confederation called upon all Naga tribes to draw lessons from this persistence and clarity of purpose.
It emphasized that similar collective unity could build momentum for an early, honourable, and inclusive resolution to the long-pending Naga political issue.
CNCCI appealed to the ENPO leadership to carry forward the responsibility of leadership beyond its region with its long-cherished aspiration now realized.
Further, CNCCI appealed to ENPO to keep the flame of unity alive by sharing its experiences, lessons, and journey with other Naga tribes and towards one united tribal body of Nagaland under common umbrella to strengthen Naga solidarity and to resolve Naga political issue at the earliest.
CNCCI stressed that without a comprehensive political settlement to the Naga political issue, even such achievements could face limitations in realizing their full potential.
CNCCI reiterated its commitment to tribal unity, inclusive economic development, and all genuine efforts toward lasting peace, political stability, and shared prosperity for the Naga people.
