Nagaland Contractors’& Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has urged the state government to eradicate the “malpractices or unlawful activities” by some government officials/different agencies or groups and take stern action against the defaulters.
In a representation addressed to the state chief minister, NCSU president Pele Khezhie and general secretary John Kath pointed out that as per the government order all the contract and supply works in the state should be awarded only to those having NCSU identity card and work order should be issued to the contractors through open tenders only.
However, NCSU said it was often found that many of the government officials issue the Contract works and supply works to the contractors (without following the govt. orders) through table tenders for their personal interest.
The union also alleged some of the government officials were in the habit of doing contract/supply works by themselves violating service conduct rules. NCSU has, therefore, urged the state government to check and stop “these illegal and irregular activities” by the government officials.
Further, appreciating the state government for release of pending bills of the contractors up to 2005, NCSU has, however, lamented that the state government failed to release the remaining outstanding bills of the contractors from 2006 till date.
NCSU has also appealed to the state government to deduct the GST from the contractor’s individual bills at source while releasing payment to the contractors and not ask them to first deposit the GST.
