Nagaland COVID-19 tally now 459

Nagaland on Tuesday reported eight fresh COVID-19 positive cases, including 6 army personnel, while Mokokchung district reported its first case after a female returnee was tested positive.

According to Health minister, S. Pangnyu Phom 6 cases were reported from at Jakhama (army) quarantine centre, 1 each from Dimapur and Mokokchung QC. With this the state’s tally rose to 459– 291 active cases and 168 recovered.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner and chairman Task Force COVID-19 Mokokchung, Limawapang Jamir stated that a female returnee from Delhi lodged at the Mary Mead Quarantine Centre, Impur was detected positive through TrueNat testing. The sample was then sent for confirmation to the BSL-3 Lab Kohima on June 28 and turned out positive on Tuesday morning. 



India’s tally 5.66 L

PTI: As the month-long ‘Unlock-1’ ends on Tuesday, India reported nearly 66 per cent of its COVID-19 cases in June alone with tally climbing to 5,66,840 with a single day spike of 18,522. From June 1, when relaxations were introduced under Unlock-1, the country has reported 3,76,305 cases.

India is now the fourth worst-affected country in terms of cases after the US, Brazil and Russia.

The death toll rose to 16,893 on Tuesday after 418 new fatalities. It was the seventh day in a row that over 15,000 cases have been reported in the country. The number of active cases stands at 2,15,125, while 3,34,821 people have recovered, and one patient has migrated, according to the updated data at 8 AM. “Thus, around 59.07% of patients have recovered so far,” an official said.
