Nagaland on Wednesday registered 12 new COVID-19 positives cases and one recovery from the virus, taking the state’s total tally to 657 cases– 353 active and 304 recovered.
According to state Health & Family Welfare department bulletin, the 12 fresh positive cases were reported from Dimapur- 9 cases and 1 each from Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon and Tuensang, while 1 recovered from Dimapur.
All the positive cases were shifted for medical care to the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID Care Centres.
As per the severity of symptoms, 350 active cases were asymptomatic, 2 mild cases and 1 moderate case.
Following the rise in COVID cases, principal secretary Home, Abhijit Sinha informed that the state government has activated active surveillance and contact tracing to prevent further spreading of the infection.
Meanwhile, till July 8, a total of 14,213 samples were sent for testing through RT-PCR. Results of 13, 925 samples were received. Out of 14,213 samples, 9,384 samples were received at the BSL-3 lab (NHAK) and a total of 9,090 samples tested, out of which 464 samples were positive.
