Nagaland CRM team assesses health units under Zunheboto

The 17th Common Review Mission (CRM) team under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, concluded its four-day visit to Zunheboto district from November 2 to 5, as part of the National Health Mission’s (NHM) nationwide monitoring and assessment initiative.
Led by Dr. Sushil Kumar Vimal, DC (NUHM), the central team comprised experts from AIIMS Bibinagar, Hyderabad, and consultants from MoHFW, including Dr. Rashmi Kundapur, Sharad Kumar, Satyajit Sahoo, and Dr. Khusboo Kumari. The team was joined by state health officials Dr. Nukshisangla Jamir, joint director (NSACS), and Dr. Kheshika Yepthomi, deputy director (NHM), along with district health staff.
A reception programme was held at the CMO Office, Zunheboto, chaired by deputy CMO Dr. Antoly Suu. Welcoming the team, Dr. Kuotsutho, medical superintendent, District Hospital Zunheboto, highlighted the district’s progress in Maternal and Child Health (MCH), immunization, and community engagement, attributing achievements to the collective efforts of the health department. Deputy commissioner Dharam Raj reaffirmed the administration’s support for healthcare initiatives and emphasized collaborative efforts to strengthen service delivery. Sumi Hoho president Dr. Vihuto T. Assumi described the visit as a “boon to the district,” urging authorities to address infrastructure gaps and operationalize the approved Nursing School to enhance local healthcare capacity.
During the visit, the CRM team assessed health units under Aspirational Block Akuhaito, Aghunato, and Suruhuto, and visited the District Hospital and CMO Office, accompanied by Anoop Khinchi, commissioner & secretary, DoHFW.
Speaking on behalf of the CRM team, Dr. Sushil Kumar Vimal stated that the mission aimed to identify challenges, highlight good practices, and provide guidance for replicable healthcare models. He emphasized the importance of equity, quality, and effective implementation of NHM’s six service packages.
A debriefing meeting held on November 6 marked the culmination of the visit, where Dr. Kumar presented key findings and commended the district’s dedication. DC Dharam Raj urged regular DHS review meetings and positive action on CRM recommendations.
Dr. Nukshisangla Jamir expressed gratitude to the CRM team and encouraged the district to prepare a detailed Action Taken Report. In her concluding remarks, Dr. Antoly Suu assured that the district would consolidate findings and submit a comprehensive action plan to the State Health Society, while appreciating the cooperation of all stakeholders.
