Expressing concern over the rise in legal setbacks for the state government, the state chief secretary, Sentiyanger Imchen, has urged all the departments to treat legal issues with utmost seriousness and to adopt a proactive approach in defending government cases.
According to a DIPR report, the chief secretary appealed to the departments during a coordination meeting of Administrative Heads of Departments (AHoDs) and Heads of Departments (HoDs) at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima on November 26, 2025.
Imchen also reminded officers of their responsibility to attend state dinners, noting frequent absences.
The meeting focused on key administrative priorities, inter-departmental coordination, and strengthening governance processes.
Stressing adherence to established procedures, Imchen urged AHoDs and HoDs to ensure meticulous file processing and to routinely brief their respective advisors and ministers on rules and procedures.
On the adoption of digital systems, the chief secretary advised each department to appoint a nodal officer for eOffice to streamline digital workflow and improve efficiency.
Announcing the upcoming pre-Christmas celebration, the chief secretary directed the home department to coordinate with the chief minister’s office for timely preparations.
State home commissioner, Abhijit Sinha, highlighted the forthcoming mass social work scheduled for November 28, 2025, from 6am across Kohima town.
He said the drive aims to promote cleanliness and beautification ahead of the festive season and the Hornbill Festival, involving government employees, Kohima Municipal Council, NGOs and the general public. Sinha urged participating departments to ensure both cleaning and proper garbage disposal in their respective areas. The meeting also featured several departmental presentations.
The finance department gave a briefing on the Enhanced State Government Salary Package (SGSP), a customized banking and insurance solution for state government employees, formalized through a MoU with the State Bank of India on March 27, 2025. Departments were encouraged to raise awareness so employees can fully benefit from the scheme.
Further, the finance department presented on Money Bill and financial procedures, followed by a PowerPoint presentation from the information technology department on digital workplace solutions, including eOffice features and biometric attendance.
