A variety of cultural performances including songs and dances of various tribes marked the third day of the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on Tuesday.
The morning session was hosted by deputy chief minister, Yanthungo Patton, and co-hosted by advisor Food & Civil Supply, Legal Metrology, KT Sukhalu and Nagaland Honey Mission chairman, Obed Quinker.
Sikkim’s tourism minister, Tshering Thendup Bhutia; SIMFED chairman, Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia and Ambassador of Peru to India, Javier Paulinich; Director, Cultural forum Austrian Embassy Michael Paland Vienna Economic Forum Project Manager Irena Pal as honored guests.
The event featured traditional dances and songs by various cultural troupes. In the afternoon session, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat graced the function as the chief guest, minister Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse was the host and advisor Treasuries & Accounts, Art and Culture, Konngam Konyak was the co- host. Cultural troupes performed a variety of traditional dances and folk song.
Hornbill Fest: Number of visitors dip on day-3
Visitors at the ongoing 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival dropped to 16087 as opposed to 23,910 visitors on inaugural day December 1. On December 3, the festival attracted 16087 visitors, comprising of 317 foreign tourists, 4041 domestic and 11729 local visitors.
According to tourism department data, 57,585 visitors have so far attended the festival.
