Dimapur Ao Lanur Telongjem (DALT) held its 5th general meeting at Senden Riju, Purana Bazaar, on Thursday, with advisor for labour & employment, skill development & entrepreneurship and excise, Moatoshi Longkumer, as the special guest, and editor-in-chief, Tir Yimyim, K. Temjen Jamir, as the theme speaker. In his address, Longkumer remarked that DAYO, once an inconspicuous organization, has in recent years emerged as a vibrant and respected body, actively championing social causes and humanitarian initiatives. He congratulated the president and council of executives for their contributions and achievements in strengthening the organization’s standing.
Dwelling on the present generational context, he pointed that industries worldwide were now driven by Artificial Intelligence, and urged youth to adapt to new technologies and embrace creativity, innovation, and digital skills.Highlighting Dimapur’s pressing waste management challenges, he asserted that it is time for youth to lead in recycling innovation and waste segregation, and urged every household and business to contribute in small ways.
He also underscored the need for economic growth that is both intelligent, and environmentally sustainable. Longkumer also suggested various activities that could be carried out by DAYO to foster skill, entrepreneurship, and creativity among young people.
Delivering the theme address on “Tanü Jenjang aser Tarutsü Nükla”, roughly translated as “Today’s value, and vision for future”, K. Temjen Jamir reflected on the organization’s journey and called upon the youth to envision a collective, progressive path forward rooted in cultural identity and community development.
He further maintained that one should not seek short-cut to prosper in life, but choose the path of hard work, dedication, and right path, which he said, would bear more fruits.
He also dwelled on the principle and policy of equi-closeness, noting that one should have close relationship and equal status with all Nagas, and not confined to certain tribes or individual. Dwelling on the future prospects, he urged the youths to utilise Artificial Intelligence for growth of business, agriculture (food production and processing), etc. Meanwhile, advisor for transport & technical education, Temjenmenba, in his short address, urged the gathering to introspect on the present status of Aos in Dimapur.
He observed that numerous entrepreneurs in the past had struggled to sustain their entrepreneurial ventures in Dimapur due to systemic issues, asserting that if DAYO had existed then, many would have succeeded, and thereby commended DAYO for creating platform for young entrepreneurs.
He however lamented that almost all markets today were criminalized and corrupted, and stressed that the youth must take proactive steps to reform the system. “We must strive to clean the corruption, syndicate culture, and monopoly that plague our markets” he stated, urging the youth to dive deeper into the problems and expose inadequacies within the system.
Quoting John F. Kennedy, he concluded by stating, “Ask not what Aos can do for you, but what you can do for Aos.” Earlier, invocation and word of God was read out by Pastor, Laimen Ao Baptist Arogo Dimapur, Takowapang Jamir, presidential address delivered by president, DAYO, Tiatemsu Longchar, and vote of thanks by vice president, DAYO, Imkongsungkum Aier. Short speeches were also delivered by president, Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur, Ningsangwaba Pongen, and DAYO advisor, I Anungba Sanglir.
A special number was presented by Imsuyala Aier, while benediction was offered by Asso Pastor, East Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo, Chubatongzuk. It may be noted that the new team of office bearers is led by Maj Bokti Jamir (Retd), as the President, and I Mangyang Jamir, as general secretary, along with others, for the term 2026 to 2028.
