Nagaland: DAYO condemns armed raid, abduction at Aoyimkum

DIMAPUR, DEC 16 (NPN)

The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) has strongly condemned what it described as a heinous and cowardly act of violence allegedly carried out by unidentified armed miscreants of a faction at Aoyimkum Village here on the night of December 15.
In a statement, DAYO said armed men allegedly entered a private residence around midnight, fired several rounds inside the house in the presence of elderly parents, women and children, and forcibly abducted one member along with four others.
Terming the incident a blatant display of lawlessness and terror, the organisation said such acts amounted to a grave violation of human rights and the sanctity of private homes.
DAYO asserted that acts of intimidation and terrorism have no place in a civilised society and would not be tolerated.
The organisation also questioned the silence of the concerned authorities, seeking to know why no action had been taken despite what it described as clear violations of ceasefire ground rules.
Reaffirming its stand against anti-social elements, DAYO said the safety and well-being of its members remained of paramount importance and called for immediate steps to ensure accountability and prevent recurrence of such incidents.
