Skin Clinic by Dr. Atoka Sumi was formally inaugurated on February 10 at Li Complex, circuit house, Dimapur. The inauguration ceremony was graced by deputy commissioner, Dimapur Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, who attended as the special guest and officially inaugurated the clinic through a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
In his Inaugural speech, Dr. Chang emphasized that health extends beyond the absence of disease and includes physical, mental, and social well-being. Highlighting the crucial role of the skin in protecting the body and regulating temperature, he observed a rising incidence of skin-related diseases due to increasing pollution and climate change, particularly in Dimapur.
He said such facilities come at a crucial time and will greatly benefit the public. Beyond treatment, he further stressed the importance of awareness and education on skin care and preventive measures, urging clinic proprietors and staff to actively give awareness and educate the community.
Congratulating the proprietor he expressed hope that the clinic will serve as a centre of excellence and a blessing for the people of Dimapur and beyond.
Spreaking at the programme, Skin Clinic by Dr. Atoka Sumi, proprietor, Dr. Atoka Sumi informed that the clinic primarily offers dermatology consultations along with advanced procedures, including laser treatments such as Q-Switch Laser, CO₂ Laser, which has being introduced for the first time in the state, with the original Hydra Facial, and minor surgical procedures. He stated that the clinic aims to provide high-quality services at affordable prices.
Sharing his professional background, Dr. Sumi said he has 15 to 16 years of experience in dermatology and has served as a senior resident at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, and as a consultant at Eden Medical Center. He also announced plans to introduce online consultations, with a dedicated portal expected to be launched within the next month.
Highlighting his unique selling point Dr. Sumi being a qualified dermatologist in a region with limited specialists cautions the public against unqualified practitioners and social media influencers promoting skin treatments without expertise. He stresses the importance of seeking treatment from properly trained specialists rather than following trends or reels. The clinic will cater to patients of all age groups.
Earlier the program was chaired by Dr. Alino Sumi, invocation by SAMS, Mission, Director, Rev. Dr. N. khekiyi Aye, a note by the proprietor by Dr. Atoka Sumi. The clinic was blessed by SBCPB, senior pastor, Rev. Dr.Vitoi Kappo.
