Following the detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) in various locations of Kohima district, the deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima, Shanava C, has ordered ban on slaughter of pigs, ban on import and export of pigs and piglets, ban on transportation of pigs and pork in areas declared as infected zones and surveillance zones until further order.
In an order, DC Kohima notified that Khuzama village and Chiechama village (1 km radius of infected premises) as infected zones while areas falling within the 10 km radius from the infected premises (9 km radius outside the infected zones) have been earmarked as surveillance zones.
It may be mentioned that several districts have also banned import of pigs and also prohibited the import of pork into the district till further notice.
