Nagaland: DC Kohima issues notification for enumeration

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohima Kumar Ramnikant has issued a notification for conducting enumeration of members belonging to Garo, Kuki, Kachari and Mikir (Karbi), and Nepali/Gorkha communities and settled in Kohima district for issuance of Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate/Permanent Residential Certificate (IIC/PRC).


According to DIPR, the enumeration would be done for Garo, Kuki, Kachari, Mikir (Karbi) members settled in Nagaland prior to December 1, 1963, and Nepalis/Gorkhas settled in the state prior to December 31, 1940.

The enumeration would be conducted by the Kohima DC office at the village/town levels in a prescribed proforma and the enumeration sheet must be countersigned by the village council chairman/municipal council chairman (as applicable), village GB concerned, area administrative officer, chairman/president/representative of the Garos, Kacharis, Kukis, Mikirs (Karbis) and Nepalis/Gorkhas (as applicable) and the DC.


All copies of final enumeration sheets would be submitted to the Home Department through the commissioner, Nagaland and would be further placed before the cabinet for decision. As per the notification, training of charge officers, supervisors and enumerators would be held from October 18 to 31, 2024, while the enumeration exercise would be begin on November 1, 2024 and continue up to January 31, 2025.


Publication of the draft list has been scheduled on February 15, 2025, while claims and objections would be entertained from February 17 to March 17, 2025.
Claims and objections would be disposed from March 18 to April 21, 2025, and the final list published on May 6, 2025.
