Dimapur District Auto Drivers Union (DDADU) has announced that the auto fare book released on January 26 will come into effect from February 1. This was informed by DDADU president, Tito Yepthomi at a press conference held on January 28.
Tito said the fare book was prepared in coordination with Chümoukedima RTO administration and the Auto Drivers Union.
It contains the approved fare structure and parking rates for designated areas, verified and corrected according to area-specific requirements.
He stated that it would be mandatory for all registered auto drivers to carry the fare book, which will be distributed at designated parking lots.
The approved rates will apply to passengers travelling between Dimapur and Chümoukedima. He cautioned that drivers found violating the prescribed fares or union rules would face penalties under law and union regulations.
As part of Republic Day observance, copies of the fare book released on January 26 will be provided free of cost.
The union has also shared grievance contact details for drivers and the public to report issues related to fares and parking.
According to Tito, around 100–200 staff members are currently deployed within operational areas, with parking in-charges instructed to strictly enforce the prescribed rates.
At present, over 2,000 auto drivers are registered under DDADU.
Expressing confidence, Tito said strict adherence to the fare book would ensure transparency, fairness and improved service for commuters.
He further announced his re-election as president for another three-year term, marking his third consecutive term and nine years of leadership.
