9th Late Capt. N. Kengurüse Memorial Trophy
Dimapur Sporting Club booked their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing 9th edition of the Capt N. Kengurüse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament 2025 after defeating Mavericks FC (Mon) 2–0 in the fourth quarterfinal match played here on Saturday.
Demonstrating tactical discipline and composure, Dimapur Sporting dominated proceedings, converting their chances effectively while maintaining a clean sheet. Despite spirited efforts from the Mon-based side to stage a comeback, Dimapur’s resolute defence held firm to secure a comfortable passage into the last four.
With the win, Dimapur Sporting Club joins the semi-final line-up of the prestigious tournament, which honours the legacy of Late Captain Neikezhakuo Kengurüse, MVC (Posthumous), and upholds the spirit of sportsmanship and competitive excellence.
The remaining semi-final fixtures will feature top contenders vying for a coveted spot in the grand finale. The tournament is organised by Assam Rifles with an aim to foster sportsmanship, discipline and youth engagement, while paying tribute to the courage and ultimate sacrifice of Capt N. Kengurüse, MVC.
