Nagaland DLSAs dispose 461 cases

A total of 461 cases were settled during the 3rd Quarterly National Lok Adalat held across Nagaland on September 13, organized by the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA). The cumulative settlement amount stood at Rs.5,62,48,868.
During the daylong sitting, 543 cases were taken up, comprising 515 pre-litigation and 28 pending matters. Of these, 449 pre-litigation and 12 pending cases were disposed of. The majority of cases pertained to bank loan recovery, telephone bills, and Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) matters.
In Dimapur, the District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) disposed of all 164 cases taken up, including MACT and BSNL disputes, with a settlement amount of Rs.2,41,74,325. The sitting was presided over by Longshithung Ezung, Principal District & Sessions Judge cum chairman, and Atoka Achumi, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum secretary DDLSA.
Kohima DLSA settled all 55 cases taken up, including 40 bank recovery and 15 BSNL cases, with a total settlement of Rs.1,28,84,877.
Phek DLSA disposed of 59 bank recovery cases from SBI, Canara Bank, and Co-operative Banks across Phek, Pfutsero, Chozuba, and Chizami, amounting to Rs.33,09,556.
Wokha DLSA settled 13 cases (12 pre-litigation and 1 pending trial) with a total settlement of Rs. 22,24,621.
Zunheboto DLSA disposed of 13 out of 15 bank recovery cases, settling Rs.19,02,123.
Mokokchung DLSA settled 12 bank recovery cases and one MACT case, totaling Rs.17,12,418.
Mon DLSA disposed of 11 bank recovery cases out of 39 taken up, with a settlement amount of Rs.17,55,024.
Tuensang DLSA settled 14 out of 40 bank recovery cases, amounting to Rs. 3,69,900.
Kiphire DLSA achieved a high disposal rate, settling 25 out of 29 bank loan cases, with a total of Rs.42,75,700.
Peren DLSA disposed of 17 out of 25 bank recovery cases, settling Rs.13,97,500. The sitting was conducted via video conference.
Longleng DLSA settled all 77 pre-litigation bank recovery cases, with a total settlement of Rs. 19,42,824. Leaflets on legal services and welfare schemes were also distributed to litigants.
The Lok Adalat proceedings across districts were conducted in a cordial and conciliatory manner, with active participation from bank officials, panel lawyers, and stakeholders.
