Two former NPP municipal councillors– Jonathan Yepthomi and Nikali Sumi Chishi, who recently joined NPF, called on chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio on Thursday, accompanied by DMC chairman Hukheto Yepthomi.
According to a press release, the chief minister welcomed the two councillors into the party and expressed appreciation for their decision to join the NPF.
He also expressed hope that their inclusion would further strengthen the party’s activities and public service efforts at the grassroots level.
The meeting also discussed several issues concerning the functioning of DMC, including assessment of DMC properties, trade licence regulations, sanitation management and matters related to municipal vehicles.
DMC chairman, who was also present, highlighted the need for strengthened administrative measures and greater support to improve the council’s overall functioning and welfare.
The councillors also acknowledged the support and guidance of the chief minister during the meeting and appreciated his willingness to listen to the council’s concerns. They expressed hope that his continued guidance and assurance of cooperation would help strengthen the functioning of the council and improve civic administration and public service delivery in Dimapur.
