Nagaland DMC directs shops, residential colonies

DIMAPUR, NOV 25 (NPN)

Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has directed all the shops, business establishments, commercial buildings, and residential colonies under its jurisdiction to ensure proper whitewashing and painting of their premises.
In a press release, DMC chief executive officer (CEO) Thungchanbemo Tungoe also suggested all responsible to paint shutters and doors with blue colour for uniformity and an enhanced civic appearance.
DMC stated that the directive was being issued following discussions held during the meeting with the civil society organizations (CSOs) of Dimapur on November 24, 2025, and in view of the upcoming Hornbill Festival, Christmas, and New Year 2025.
All shop owners, business establishments, colonies, and building owners have been asked to decorate and illuminate their respective premises using low-energy-consumption decorative lights/colorful bulbs on or before November 30, 2025 to enhance the festive ambience of Dimapur during the Hornbill Festival, Christmas, and New Year celebrations.
Dimapur Municipal Council also informed that a special social work would be undertaken by all business establishments, Colonies under its jurisdiction on November 29, 2025 from 6am to 9am.
Therefore, DMC has directed all concerned to participate actively.
Dimapur Municipal Council has cautioned that non-compliance of tis directives would invite appropriate action as per the relevant provisions of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023, and other applicable guidelines.
