Nagaland DMC launches digital rate boards in New Market Dimapur

Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) on Monday inaugurated a digital rate board at New Market, Dimapur, under its Market Rate Control (MRC) branch, marking a step forward in promoting transparency and accessibility of daily commodity prices. The initiative will be extended to Super Market and Murgipatti in the coming days.
Speaking at the launch, MRC convenor Neingutoulie Kenguruse said the digital boards aim to provide the public with real-time updates on essential commodity prices and encourage fair business practices. He informed that DMC office contact numbers will be displayed on the boards for public queries and complaints, noting that businesses may also advertise on the boards at nominal rates to support system maintenance and town beautification. He further appealed to shopkeepers to decorate their establishments ahead of the festive season.
DMC CEO Thungchabemo Tungoe, in his address, termed the initiative a “progressive moment” for Dimapur and thanked councillors for their efforts. He said the boards reflect DMC’s commitment to accountability and technological advancement, and could also serve as platforms for business promotion and event announcements, generating modest revenue for the council.
DMC chairperson Hukheto Yepthomi, who formally inaugurated the board, said the initiative would help bridge gaps in market rate information and ensure fair pricing. He acknowledged the enforcement team and councillors for implementing the project despite resource constraints.
The programme began with an invocation prayer by KBC pastor Rokothozo Sophie.
