Nagaland: DMC notifies revamping colony-level sanitation teams

DIMAPUR, FEB 11 (NPN)

The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has issued a notification directing all colonies under its jurisdiction to revamp and reconstitute their sanitation teams in line with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
DMC CEO Thungchanbemo Tungoe stated that the exercise will involve revalidation of members, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
Colonies have been asked to appoint a nodal person for coordination with municipal sanitation officials.
The notice urged active involvement in source segregation of waste, monitoring door-to-door collection, preventing littering and open dumping, and generating awareness within colonies.
Updated sanitation team details must be submitted to the DMC sanitation section by February.
Colony councils and chairmen have been requested to extend full cooperation. DMC cautioned that non-compliance could invite action under municipal provisions and the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
