The programme, attended by around 300 students, faculty members and staff, aimed to educate participants on the modus operandi of cyber frauds, myths surrounding electromagnetic radiation (EMR), and various citizen-centric initiatives of DoT.
During the session, attendees were briefed on common techniques used by cybercriminals such as phishing, identity theft, malware attacks and social engineering scams. Officials also highlighted the Sanchar Saathi portal, a citizen-centric initiative designed to empower mobile subscribers and enhance security awareness.

As per latest data, 923 mobile phones have been blocked, 668 traced and 119 recovered through CEIR in Nagaland.
The programme also introduced the Tarang Sanchar portal, which provides information on mobile tower radiation and addresses public concerns regarding EMR. Attendees were encouraged to report cybercrimes through the National Cyber Crime Portal (https://cybercrime.gov.in) or the 1930 helpline number.
Four Sanchar Mitra volunteers from CIHSR participated in the event and were felicitated with tokens of appreciation.
