Dough Re Me Bakes celebrated the grand opening of its first Kohima outlet on November 14, marking a new milestone for the brand’s expansion in Nagaland. The store is located at Lerei on Imphal Road, opposite Lerei Baptist Church.
Advisor to the chief minister, Abu Metha, who graced the inaugural programme, commended the initiative and described the outlet as a space that would foster friendship, community engagement, ideas and innovation. Calling it an “international-level” venture, he said such establishments contributed to the state’s growing entrepreneurial landscape. Metha also encouraged local entrepreneurs to emulate similar quality-driven ventures and conveyed his best wishes to the Dough Re Me team.
The store offers a wide collection of high-quality bread, sandwiches, salads, burgers, buns, assorted snacks and sweets. It also features premium frozen food items, jams and bread spreads. According to the founder, Meyisangla Longkumer, the Kohima outlet has been designed to provide customers with a comfortable and inviting ambiance, with emphasis on hygiene, freshness and prompt service. Dough Re Me Bakes traces its humble beginnings to 1996 in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, where Meyisangla’s husband T. John Longkumer was posted as SP. With no bakery or basic provisions available in the remote, conflict-affected town, Meyisangla began learning to bake bread for the family.
Years of perseverance, recipe books, and unwavering determination eventually shaped her into a skilled baker. After three decades of the couple’s journey—from raising children to navigating a life of public service—their first flagship bakery was established at 3rd Mile, Dimapur, in 2023.
The Kohima branch marks another milestone for the family, with three generations celebrating what the founder described as the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream. Expressing gratitude, he credited his wife’s dedication and God’s blessings for the success of their growing bakery venture.
