Doyang Strikers, Mokokchung, clinched the championship title of the 27th MDFA Trophy 2025 after defeating Chargers FC 2-1 in a thrilling final held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Saturday.
With the win, Doyang Strikers walked away with the championship trophy, a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh, and a citation. Chargers FC, the runners-up, received Rs. 1 lakh along with a trophy and citation.
Individual honours were also presented:
- Best Goalkeeper: Supongnenba (Chargers FC)
- Best Midfielder: Tongpangnokdang (Chargers FC)
- Best Defender: Pangersunep (Doyang Strikers)
- Player of the Tournament: Yami Longvah (Doyang Strikers)
- Highest Scorers (Joint): Longkhoc (Chargers FC) and Horam (Doyang Strikers)
Gracing the occasion as guest of honour, Lanuchuba—DMC Councillor and president of Longterok FC and NPF Youth Wing Dimapur Division—commended the players and highlighted the role of football in empowering youth.
He credited Metsubo Jamir for founding Longterok FC with a vision to provide a platform for young talents in Mokokchung.
“Football today is not just a game; it is a career, a calling, and a bridge that connects communities,” Lanuchuba said, urging youth to dream bigger and pursue excellence with discipline and perseverance.
The closing ceremony was led by A Tutu Jamir, with invocation by Temsuwati, associate pastor of Mokokchung Village Baptist Church, and vote of thanks delivered by MDFA president N Akok Longkumer.
