DIMAPUR

Chairman DPDB Mon, Y. Mankhao Konyak, MLA, who had earlier adopted the present dumping site of Mon Town under SBMU-2.0 for legacy waste remediation, visited the site on January 6, 2026 along with the administrator and staff of Mon Town Council to oversee the ongoing work under the Dumpsite Remediation Accelerator Programme (DRAP).
According to a DIPR report, Mankhao expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work and urged Mon Town Council officials to complete the remediation within the timeline set by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
He also conveyed gratitude to the Department of Municipal Affairs, Government of Nagaland, for allotting two new vehicles to Mon Town Council during 2024–2025 to strengthen door-to-door collection of garbage.
Further, the MLA appealed to the public of Mon Town to practice waste segregation at home and minimise the use of plastics and other harmful materials, so as to reduce the volume of waste reaching the dumpsite and prevent fresh waste from entering it.
