The monthly meeting of the Peren District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) for January was held on January 6, 2026 at the DC’s Conference Hall, Peren District Headquarters, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman, DPDB Peren, Hiazu Meru.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting deliberated on work distribution for the upcoming Republic Day Celebration 2026, during which various departments were assigned specific responsibilities. As part of the preparations, the house resolved to conduct a mass social work on January 23, 2026.
The Deputy Commissioner observed that in past National Day celebrations, exhibition stalls were mostly set up by Agri and Allied Departments alone, which he felt was not equitable. Emphasising the importance of National Days, he stated that participation from all government departments was mandatory and proposed that exhibition stalls be set up by every department. Highlighting the challenges of organising events at the district headquarters, he appealed to all departments to continue extending cooperation and support to ensure the successful conduct of programmes.
Presiding over the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner welcomed all DPDB members and extended New Year greetings. He appreciated the cooperation extended by departments in the past and urged them to continue the same in the new year to ensure effective governance in the district.
The house also reviewed the minutes of the previous DPDB meeting, which included discussions on the adoption of Peren Government College, adoption of schools, hospitals and roads, adoption of villages under the Pilot Project, as well as initiatives on off-season crops and the Green Peren programme.
