Dr Keduovinuo Keditsu Chielie, founding member and trustee of the Nagaland-based non-profit organisation Dr K&T Keditsu Foundation, received the distinguished President’s invitation to attend the Republic Day “At Home” Reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi on January 26, 2026.
Among the 207 invitees, including 10 eminent doctors, Dr Keditsu Chielie was the only doctor from Nagaland and the Northeast to be recognised in the category of Public Health/Community Medicine.
The exclusive event, hosted annually by the President of India on January 26, honours distinguished citizens selected on the basis of merit, distinction and public service. Invitees include achievers in science, sports and social work, people’s representatives, ground-level workers, government dignitaries, members of the cabinet and parliament, senior civil servants, police personnel, judiciary, and the diplomatic corps.
Dr Keditsu Chielie is the first and only MCh surgical oncologist from Nagaland, an alumnus of the prestigious Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and a Cancer Prevention Fellow at the National Cancer Institute, Maryland, USA. Along with her family of doctors, she has been actively engaged in community service and outreach programmes with a special focus on cancer awareness and prevention, women’s empowerment and education.
Her initiative Cancer Aid Nagaland has been providing financial assistance of up to Rs 1,00,000 to indigenous Naga tribal cancer patients since 2019. The Dr K&T Keditsu Foundation has, over the past decade, conducted free medical camps, surgeries, cancer screenings for oral, cervical and breast cancer, and extended financial aid to underprivileged patients.
Through collaborations with local and national organisations including RML Cancer Foundation Nagaland, Biocon Foundation Bengaluru, Naga tribal bodies and village councils, the Foundation has reached over 12,000 beneficiaries to date.
