Nagaland drives agricultural progress through VKSA campaign

DIMAPUR

Nagaland has emerged as a leader in the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), reaching 70,169 farmers across 746 villages from May 29 to June 5, 2025. The campaign, part of the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, focuses on ensuring that even farmers in remote areas benefit from modern agricultural advancements.
In a press statement, Dr. Sandeep Deshmukh, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK Wokha, and Nodal Officer (Press & Media Release) VKSA Nagaland State, highlighted the strong grassroots participation of farmers, youth, women, self-help groups (SHGs), and farmer producer organizations (FPOs). A total of 35,507 male and 30,867 female farmers engaged in awareness programs, technical interactions, and knowledge-sharing sessions, with over 10,000 farmers participating on June 3 and 4, demonstrating effective community mobilization.
The campaign also received support from key policymakers and experts, including legislators, an MP, Deputy Commissioners from every district, ICAR officials, and representatives from Central Agricultural University (CAU) and SAS, boosting its visibility and institutional backing.
Nagaland, known for its rich biodiversity and traditional farming methods, is blending modern agricultural technology with indigenous knowledge to promote sustainable farming, improve food security, and increase farmers’ incomes.
By emphasizing innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability, VKSA aligns with India’s five-trillion-dollar economy goal and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As the campaign continues until June 12, Nagaland stands as a model for other states, demonstrating how agricultural growth (Viksit Krishi) contributes to national development (Viksit Bharat).
