The first batch of trainees at the Drone School – Drone Centre of Excellence, Nagaland GIS & Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC), Planning and Transformation Department, successfully completed the 14-day FPV Drone Training Programme. Certificates were presented by Temsunaro Aier, Development Commissioner, who graced the valedictory programme as Special Guest.
In her address, Temsunaro lauded the support of the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM) and commended the trainers for their professionalism.
She emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards in imparting technical skills, particularly in emerging technologies such as drone operations, which hold potential in governance, planning, disaster response, and development. She further highlighted the growing relevance of skill-based education, describing drone technology as a vital 21st-century skill. Referring to the Union Budget’s emphasis on strengthening indigenous manufacturing, she encouraged trainees to explore opportunities aligned with Atmanirbhar Bharat and urged them to pursue DGCA Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) training in the next phase.
Temsunaro also announced the introduction of two specialised non-DGCA courses—Drone Cinematography and Drone GIS Mapping & Survey—tailored to State-specific requirements.
The graduating trainees expressed positive feedback on the course and showed keen interest in advanced programmes.
Meanwhile, the second batch of ten trainees commenced Drone Repair & Maintenance training the same day, reflecting growing demand for structured drone skill training in Nagaland. The programme was attended by the Additional Development Commissioner, senior officials of the Planning and Transformation Department, officials from NSEDM, and others.
It may be recalled that the Drone School – Drone Centre of Excellence at NGISRSC, Kohima, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on January 26, 2026, marking a milestone in strengthening geospatial and drone capabilities in the State.
