Nagaland: Dy.CM, GPRN/NSCN (U) appeal for exercising restraint

DIMAPUR, FEB 13 (NPN)

Deputy chief minister Y Patton and GPRN/NSCN (Unification) president ‘gen.’ (Retd.) MB Neokpao Konyak and ato kilonser Alezo Venuh, have expressed deep concern over the incidents that occurred at Maova village and appealed to all communities and organisations to exercise restraint and allow peace to be restored.
Patton: Deputy CM called upon all organisations and community bodies involved, directly or indirectly, to step back from confrontation and place their trust in the established mechanisms of dialogue, customary law, and district administration. “These institutions exist precisely to resolve disputes of this nature without harm to any community,” Patton said.
The deputy chief minister has expressed relief that the situation has since been brought under control by the authorities.
Patton has urged all parties to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
Further, the deputy chief minister has urged the administration to ensure continued security in the area and to act swiftly and impartially in addressing the grievances of those affected.

GPRN/NSCN (U) appeals for peace
GPRN/NSCN (Unification), led by its president ‘gen.’ (Retd.) MB Neokpao Konyak and ato kilonser Alezo Venuh, has appealed to the people of Chakroma and Moava village to renounce all forms of violence and to uphold the enduring Christian principles of peace, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
In a statement issued through its MIP, GPRN/NSCN (U) expressed deep concern over the unfortunate incident that occurred on February 13 in Medziphema sub-division under Chümoukedima district.
The group noted that the incident took place at a time when every Naga individual and organisation was earnestly striving for peace, harmony, and tranquillity within Naga society.
It described such developments as regrettable and contrary to the collective Naga aspiration for unity and mutual understanding.
In response to the distressing occurrence, GPRN/NSCN (U) urged both parties involved in the recent violence to exercise maximum restraint and to refrain from any further actions that could escalate tensions.
The group called upon all responsible individuals and stakeholders to engage in dialogue and pursue peaceful means to resolve differences, thereby preserving the spirit of brotherhood and communal coexistence among the Naga people.
GPRN/NSCN (U) also reaffirmed its commitment to fostering reconciliation, stability, and lasting peace throughout Naga society.
