East Zone registered a commanding nine-wicket victory over North East Zone in a rain-affected fixture of the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2025, held at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, on November 6. The match was reduced to seven overs per side due to inclement weather, but East Zone displayed complete dominance in both bowling and batting departments.
Batting first, North East Zone posted 42 runs for the loss of four wickets. Nabam Yapu top-scored with a brisk 22 off 15 balls, offering a brief resistance at the top. East Zone’s bowling attack, led by Sushree Dibyadarshini, kept the scoring in check. Dibyadarshini returned impressive figures of 3/10 in two overs, dismantling the middle order and restricting the total.
In response, East Zone chased down the target in just three overs, losing only one wicket. Ashwani starred with the bat, smashing an unbeaten 36 off 11 deliveries, and was named Player of the Match for her explosive performance.
Player of the Match was bagged by Ashwani (East Zone).
Despite the shortened format, both teams competed with intent. East Zone’s superior depth and discipline ensured a comfortable win as the tournament progressed in Sovima.
Meanwhile, the scheduled match between North Zone and West Zone at Sovima Cricket Ground was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to a wet outfield. Following multiple inspections, match officials deemed the ground unfit for play, prioritizing player safety. As per tournament regulations, both teams were awarded two points.
