East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has issued a directive to all shopkeepers, business establishments, commercial institutions and vendors within its jurisdiction to maintain proper cleanliness of their shops and surrounding areas at all times.
In a press release, EDTC directed shop and business owners to keep their premises neat and hygienic, ensure proper disposal of waste in designated dustbins, avoid dumping garbage on roads, drains or public places, and maintain cleanliness in front of their shops including footpaths and adjoining areas.
EDTC emphasized that maintaining cleanliness was not only a civic duty but also a shared responsibility to keep the town clean, healthy and presentable, noting that a clean environment reflects the discipline and unity of the community.
The council further informed that surprise inspections will be conducted, and any shop or business establishment found violating cleanliness norms will be strictly penalized.
EDTC also cautioned that any individual or group found damaging road dividers within its jurisdiction will be held responsible for repairing and restoring the damaged property at their own cost. It warned that those involved in such acts, or attempting to escape after causing damage, will face strict action.
