East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has directed all petrol pump owners and operators within its jurisdiction to maintain prescribed standards of hygiene and public amenities. The order was issued following a resolution adopted during the council’s official meeting on January 19, 2026.
In a press release ECTC informed that as per the directive, petrol pumps must ensure fresh and clean toilet facilities, including separate provisions for persons with disabilities.
They are also required to provide functional air inflation services, fire safety equipment in line with safety norms, and safe and fresh drinking water for public use.
In addition, EDTC emphasized the need for assured quality of petrol and diesel, coupled with transparent and courteous customer service. The council has instructed all operators to comply with these requirements by the end of February 2026, warning that failure to do so may invite action under applicable rules and regulations.
The council stated that these facilities are essential to for public convenience, safety, and service quality, and sought the cooperation of all concerned in the interest of public welfare and quality maintenance within East Dimapur.
