Nagaland: ENPO urges state govt comment on FNT by October 31

Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) held a coordination and consultative meeting with Frontal and Tribal Organizations on October 11, 2024, at Mon Town, where the house unanimously resolved to request the state government to provide its comment on the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) issue by October 31, 2024.

ENPO highlighted that it had previously submitted a request letter to the chief minister on August 23, 2024, followed by a reminder note on September 14, 2024, urging the government to send its comment as expected by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

It further recalled that on December 18, 2023, the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, had handed over the “Highlight of the draft Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) with ENPO on FNT” to the state government, requesting its comment at the earliest.

However, the issue has remained at a standstill since then, with no explanation from the state government. ENPO once again reminded the chief minister to consider the long-cherished aspirations of the Eastern Nagas. The house also resolved to convene a Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting on November 1, 2024, to discuss further actions on the matter.
