ENPUD: The Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Dimapur( ENPUD) comprising of 8 tribal units, namely, Chang Union Dimapur, Eastern Sumi Union Dimapur, Khiamniungan Union Dimapur, Konyak Union Dimapur, Dimapur Phom Union, Sangtam Union Dimapur, Tikhir Union Dimapur and Yimkhiung Union Dimapur, thanked chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for taking up the Foothills Road on top priority with utmost sincerity and urgency as People’s Road Project which will greatly enhance the connectivity between different parts of Nagaland and improve the quality of social and economic life of the people.
A press release by the ENPUD Media Cell stated that the ENPUD appealed to the chief minister to issue the work order for 2nd phase of Projects on or before 31st March 2026 as per ultimatum served by the Dimapur-based Civil Societies Organisations (CSOs) on March 21, “to avoid any confrontations and misunderstanding that may arise due to the non-compliance.”
The ENPUD further requested the chief minister to invite the NFRCC members to the meeting convened on March 31, 2026 to discuss the Foothills Road issues as a stakeholders in the Foothills Road projects since they have been giving immense sacrifice for this Roads since 2013.
The ENPUD also resolved to extend full support to any steps that the Dimapur based Civil Societies Organisations may undertake on expiry of the ultimatum served on 21st March 2026. The ENPUD however stated that it has full confidence in the “wisdom and sincerity of the Chief Minister to settle the issue amicably.”
ZPOD: The Zeliang People Organisation Dimapur (ZPOD) has urged the State government to expedite issuance of all necessary documents, including the work order, for the ongoing Foothill Road project from Khelma in Peren district to Tizit in Mon district, covering approximately 395.8 km, on or before March 31, 2026.
In a statement, ZPOD general secretary Junang Chawang said the Foothill Road was a crucial infrastructure project for the entire State, adding that it would significantly boost economic activities and enhance connectivity across districts by improving accessibility.
The organisation also expressed concern over the proposal to upgrade the highway to four lanes at this stage, pointing out that approval had already been granted under SASCI for a two-lane highway. It therefore urged the State government to prioritise the Foothill Road project, which is already under progress. ZPOD further appealed to the government to take prompt action in line with the people’s mandate and ensure timely execution and completion of the project.
