Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Dimapur (ENPUD) has strongly condemned the alleged raid and abduction of six Naga individuals at Aoyimkum village on December 15, reportedly carried out at gunpoint by armed miscreants.
In a press release, ENPUD, representing its eight constituent units, unanimously expressed solidarity with the Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) and endorsed its demand for justice, stressing that it should not remain symbolic but translate into concrete action.
ENPUD also appealed to Naga armed groups to prioritise peace and peaceful coexistence with the public, urging them to refrain from acts that instil fear within the community.
It stated that armed groups are fighting for the Naga cause and not to harass or intimidate Naga civilians.
Pointing out that groups under ceasefire are bound by specific terms and conditions, ENPUD asserted that such organisations cannot assume the role of law-enforcing agencies and must strictly adhere to ceasefire ground rules.
The union cautioned that growing lawlessness and gun culture would no longer be tolerated by the Naga people, asserting that the collective aspiration of the public is peace, stability and progress.
