Nagaland: Ethnic stalls, handicrafts and cuisine mark Mon edition of Hornbill Festival

The second day of the Mon edition of the International Hornbill Festival was celebrated with a vibrant stretch of stalls showcasing ethnic wears, traditional handicrafts and culinary items, creating employment opportunities in the district.
According to DPRO Mon, stall organizers highlighted the display and sale of traditional and modern ethnic wears including waistcoats, neckties, bead earrings and colourful shawls at the Konyak Heritage, Mon. Spears and daos smelted from across the district, including Wakching areas, were also exhibited.
Culinary items such as Namann—a traditional biscuit made of sesame seed, donuts from fox-tailed millets, gooseberry pickles and wild apple snacks—were among the attractions. The Agriculture Department stall featured oil palm seeds from Tizit, jobstears millets, taro (yam) and other local produce.
Handicrafts and art items including bamboo kettles, cups and baskets, intricately carved and woven with motifs, were also on display.
Organizers invited visitors to explore the stalls, savour Konyak culinary flavours and take home souvenirs crafted by Mon artisans.
Participants included Progressive SHG Chen block, Khongphang SHG Angjangyang, Shoalam SHG Tizit block, Pannyungu Yonglan SHG Wakching block, Mon block, and the Department of Agriculture & Horticulture Mon, among others.
