Nagaland: Excise dept destroys seized liquor worth Rs. 45 lakh in Dmu

DIMAPUR

Seized liquor valued at around Rs. 45 lakh was destroyed on March 6 at the Excise Directorate Complex, Dimapur, under Section 73 of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, 1989 and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
According to Joint Commissioner of Excise (Narcotic Cell), Dimapur, S. Phyobemo Kikon, the destruction covered seizures made between October 2024 and January 2026 by the three enforcement wings based in Dimapur—District Excise, Mobile Squad and Narcotic Cell.
The consignment comprised 11,297 bottles of assorted IMFL and 5,369 bottles/canned beer. During the same period, revenue amounting to Rs. 13 lakh was realized from case compounding.
At the programme, Additional Commissioner of Excise, S. Chanlei Angh, lauded the enforcement personnel for their efforts in curbing illegal liquor trade. Reports of the seized articles were presented by the Superintendents of Excise from Dimapur District, Mobile Squad and Narcotic Cell before the duly constituted Liquor Destruction Committee.
