DIMAPUR: A 10 member Nagaland delegation led by adviser for New & Renewable Energy, Er. Picto Shohe, accompanied by secretary, Department of New & Renewable Energy, Linda Solo, and director, Er. James Khala, along with departmental officials, visited Tripura from June 23–24 to study the successful implementation of renewable energy programmes, particularly the PM KUSUM Scheme, and to facilitate knowledge and experience sharing.
According to Neizeno Peseyie, deputy director New and Renewable Energy, government of Nagaland, the study visit was organised to gain first hand insights into the innovative initiatives and strategies adopted by the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) under the Power department. The delegation examined operational frameworks, project execution models and best practices that have contributed to Tripura’s achievements in renewable energy development.
During the visit, the team inspected several projects including off grid solar water pumping systems under PM KUSUM Component B, solarization of grid connected agricultural pumps under Component C, an 80 kWp grid connected solar PV plant at Rangacherra village, a community solar water purification plant with 45 KLD capacity, solar high mast and street lighting systems in Mohanpur Block, a 500 kWp grid connected solar PV plant at Tripura University under the RESCO model, a biogas plant at Ramakrishna Mission Complex, Amtali, and a 100 kW solar power plant at Land Port, Agartala.
On June 23, the delegation visited Sathdubai Gram Panchayat to interact with officials and beneficiaries on off grid solar water pumps and solarized agricultural pumps. They also visited Rangacherra Gram Panchayat to study the Green Village initiative and the community solar water purification plant.
Later, advisor, Er. Pitco called on Tripura Power minister, Ratan Lal Nath, and held discussions on strengthening cooperation in the renewable energy sector. The delegation also attended a review meeting chaired by Abhishek Chandra, secretary, Power Department, along with TREDA director Debabrata Sukla Das and senior officials at Sonar Tari State Guest House. The meeting focused on project implementation, policy initiatives, financing mechanisms and opportunities for inter state collaboration.
On June 24, the delegation met Tripura University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shyamal Das, to discuss collaborative initiatives in renewable energy awareness, research, skill development and capacity building programmes for officers of the Department of New & Renewable Energy. They also inspected the University’s 500 kWp solar PV plant before visiting the biogas plant at Ramakrishna Mission Complex.
The Nagaland delegation appreciated Tripura’s achievements in renewable energy and commended its innovative approach in promoting clean energy solutions for irrigation, drinking water, rural electrification and community infrastructure. They also acknowledged the effective financial and technical support extended to beneficiaries, which has contributed to successful programme implementation.
