Farmers from four districts of Nagaland including Dimapur (12), Chumoukedima (20), Kohima (19) and Wokha (15) attended the “Post-Budget Webinar on Agriculture Rural Prosperity” held on March 1, 2025, in which the Prime Minister delivered the opening remarks, and secretaries from the Department of Agriculture &Farmers’ Welfare (DoA&FW) chaired the event.
In a press release, SLBC Nagaland convenor, H Lalhlimpuia, informed that in a move to boost Agriculture growth and productivity, the Union Budget 2025-26 increased the credit limit under the modified Interest Subvention Scheme (MISS) from 3 lakh to 5 lakh.
SLBC Nagaland convenor said that this enhancement aimed to provide affordable and easy credit to farmers, empowering them with financial independence.
Lalhlimpuia said KCC-Modified Interest Subvention Scheme has been offering loans to farmer at an effective subsidized rate of interest at 4 percent. Additionally, Lalhlimpuia said Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has increased the collateral free KCC loan limit from 1.60 lakh to 2 lakh, further ensuring easy access to affordable credit.
