Nagaland: Farmers of Meluri trained on organic farming

A training workshop on organic farming, organized by The Green Caravan, Service Provider for Phase 4, Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) under department of Agriculture, was held at Meluri Village Council Hall on September 27.

The workshop was organised for farmers from villages of Riehoupe, Khumiasu and Meluri village under the Meluri Organic Producer Company Ltd, established under the MOVCDNER Phase 4, under the department of Agriculture.


A press release by The Green Caravan informed that Sub-Divisional Agricultural Officer (SDAO), Mhonchumo Lotha, in his address encouraged farmers to uphold principles of organic farming, as set out in MOVCDNER scheme, and assured them of all possible support from the department.

He also emphasized the importance of sustainable farming practices and the long-term benefits of organic certification for the farmers and the region.


The release informed that technical session focused on essential aspects of organic farming, noting that farmers received comprehensive training on National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) guidelines for organic certification, as well as Internal Control System (ICS) management at farmer level.


The session also included strategic analysis of market trends, aiming to develop and strengthen market linkages for the region’s organic produce.
