Nagaland Final phase of ST scholarship released

Department of Higher Education, has announced the completion of full and final disbursement of the Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students for the academic year 2024–25.
In a press release issued by ex-officio director, directorate of Higher Education, Kohima, the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, a welfare initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, provides financial assistance to eligible ST students from families with an annual income not exceeding 2.5 lakh for studies beyond Class XI. In Nagaland, the scheme is implemented digitally through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) by the Department of Higher Education. Applications are verified online at both the institutional and state levels, while funds are transferred via the Aadhaar-Based Payment System (ABPS) to ensure transparency and efficiency. For the 2024–25 academic year, a total of 41,793 students were identified as beneficiaries. In the first phase, scholarships amounting to3,071.49 lakh were disbursed in June 2025 to 22,412 students. Following submission of the utilization certificate, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs released an additional 2,309.91 lakh on October 28, 2025, as its share for the remaining students. Subsequently, the combined Central and State share of2,566.57 lakh was credited to the Single Nodal Agency (SNA) account on November 10, 2025, and the second phase payment was released on November 11, 2025, covering 19,381 beneficiaries. The Department confirmed that all eligible students have now received full and final scholarship payments for 2024–25. Those listed in the second phase who have not received their funds are advised to ensure Aadhaar linkage and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) activation in their bank accounts. The release added that the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (90:10) jointly funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the Government of Nagaland. The State Government has reiterated its commitment to timely release of its share to ensure uninterrupted scholarship disbursal to students.
