Mokokchung witnessed the launch of the first-ever 35+ MFL Vision League, an Under-13 football tournament organized by the 35+ Mokokchung Football League under the aegis of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) and powered by Longterok Football Club. The league officially kicked off at Mojabile Football Turf, Mokokchung.
The opening ceremony was graced by Assistant Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajay Moktan, who underscored the role of sports in instilling discipline, teamwork and resilience among children.
MDFA vice president Bendangnukshi encouraged the young players to grow through the sport and use their skills for the betterment of society, expressing confidence that the Vision League would inspire new football philosophies in the district.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Vesupra Kezo, NPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, urged participants to seize the opportunity, remain disciplined, and not be discouraged by setbacks, remarking that “tomorrow’s football stars are being made here.”
The programme was chaired by Er. Imtiyanger Imchen, with an invocation by Shri Imliwapang, Pastor of Christ Church, and a welcome note delivered by Shri Tiakumzuk, Convenor of the league.
The Vision League features six teams comprising players aged between 8 and 13 years, each mentored and guided by the six teams of the 35+ Mokokchung Football League. The initiative marks a significant step in nurturing grassroots football talent in Mokokchung, with hopes of shaping the future of the sport in the region.
